I'm lactose intolerant. I can't have whey.

Whey isolate is not the same as whey concentrate — the isolation process removes nearly all fat and lactose, typically less than 0.5g per serving.

Protein powders are full of heavy metals.

The heavy metal concern in supplements primarily applies to plant-based proteins which can accumulate arsenic, lead, and cadmium from soil. Whey, being dairy-derived, does not carry this same risk profile.

Soy messes with hormones.

Soy contains phytoestrogens (isoflavones). They are structurally different and bind much more weakly to estrogen receptors. Further, Isolated soy protein undergoes processing that removes most isoflavones.

Why EAA blend if the shake already has protein?

Whole proteins (WPI, ISP) must be digested and broken down before amino acids enter the bloodstream. Free-form Essential Amino Acids in a blend are already in their final usable state — they absorb faster and peak in the blood sooner.

The EAA blend allows the formulator to fine-tune specific amino acid ratios — for example, boosting leucine (the key trigger for muscle protein synthesis) or lysine beyond what the protein sources naturally provide.

Fibre causes bloating and gas.

Any new prebiotic fibre can cause temporary adjustment symptoms (mild gas, bloating) in the first 1–2 weeks as the gut microbiome adapts. This is a sign it's working, not a sign something is wrong.

Inulin acts as a prebiotic: it feeds beneficial gut bacteria (Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus), which produce short-chain fatty acids that support digestive health, immune function, and even mood.

How is inulin different from other fibres like psyllium husk or oat?

Inulin is soluble and highly fermentable — meaning it actively feeds gut bacteria and stimulates probiotic growth.

Inulin selectively feeds gut bacteria species most associated with immune health, reduced inflammation, and gut barrier integrity. This selectivity is what makes it a true prebiotic.
